4/2/15 Week 10 Day 2

This Thursday we visited a construction site for a new veteran's building on campus.

We were first shown around the maintenance part of the building. The pipes and the wires that will keep it running, keep it functional and inhabitable must all be positioned carefully in order to fit in everything necessary.

Then we were taken to the room that will be used as the face of building. This is the first thing that people will see when the walk in. In order to give the veterans a view of everything around them and therefore give them a sense of security, the room has large windows on every wall.

In every room where the veterans can live there will be track installed in the ceiling in case the veteran needs assistance moving. Caretakers will also be on hand around the clock.
One of the machines workers use.

The floor where veterans will be housed is nearly finished and had already been painted when we were given the tour.

Even with years of planning, things can still go wrong when building. There are several sections of the ceiling in this bathroom the need to be accessed, so what was originally going to be a permanent ceiling with a single access door must now be either a paneled ceiling or must have several access doors.
